BBVA Compass improves mobile account origination in latest version of mobile app

BBVA Compass just made becoming a customer easier with the latest release of its award-winning mobile banking app.

BBVA Compass Mobile Banking 5.0 makes becoming a customer easier

The app, which was named Best Mobile App by Money® magazine in 2015 and awarded Javelin Strategy & Research's Mobile Banking Leader in Functionality Award three times in as many years, has set the standard again with version 5.0. Headlining the features of the latest release is the ability for customers and non-customers alike to download the app, apply for an account directly from the home screen, and when the account is set up, use mobile enrollment to immediately start using mobile banking.

According to BBVA Compass Head of Mobile and Online Channels Alex Carriles, it’s that functionality that puts this version of the bank’s mobile app in a class of its own.

“We’ve seen an evolution in digital banking, where the number of digitally savvy, mobile-only customers is rising,” Carriles said. “For this customer, their mobile device is their relationship platform with the bank, which is why giving them the ability to originate accounts directly from the app – and then start immediately using it - is so important.”

With BBVA Compass Mobile Banking 5.0, a potential customer only needs to download the app, open a checking, savings or money market account, and they can then start immediately using mobile banking.

With one tap of the app’s lead banner ‘Become a customer today,' interested applicants are shown the different products available, and can apply for the various deposit accounts, with the potential of becoming a bank customer and mobile app user in minutes, having never stepped in a branch.

“Smartphone adoption continues to grow, and with it comes customers who expect their mobile device to do it all,” Carriles said. “When it comes to banking, their expectation is access to the full bank on their terms – anytime, anywhere. With mobile account origination at their fingertips, we’re delivering it to them in a way many aren’t.”

Other enhancements to BBVA Compass Mobile Banking 5.0 include:

  • New, more intuitive mobile deposit experience with updated features that include one flow for single or multiple check deposits with an improved user experience and the ability to export confirmation screen via email or text as a PDF.
  • The ability to select from various payment options for BBVA Compass mortgages, loans and lines of credit. Depending on product selected, customers may be able to select options including Regular Payment, Additional Principal, Additional Escrow or Past Due Payment.

Customers can download the BBVA Compass Mobile Banking App for iPhone®, Android™, Kindle Fire™ and BlackBerry® by visiting their respective app stores. Text APP to 4BBVA (42282) to get a one-time text message with a link to download the app.* A mobile web version of the app is also available for customers using non-iPhone®, Android™, Kindle Fire or BlackBerry devices.
